Simple is hard Permanent link to this item in the archive.

It's humbling to do something simple, particularly something simple for which even you have standards of excellence.

If only the blogosphere had to play musical instruments. Then it would be easier to tell the phonies from the real thing, wouldn't it? Of course, it's been this way since Homer. He could tell any old story, but the band playing for the wedding didn't get paid if they sucked.

Of course, working code is even better as a measure of excellence. I get sick and tired of people telling me this tool or that language is GREAT and they've never done working code in it. The most they've done is seen some pseudo-sample.

All apropos of trying to learn to play a couple of tunes on an Irish (traditional or baroque transverse) flute.

my copy of Computer Lib/Dream Machines is close to my desk chair. I don't it out of the house.

Rowed 10k meters in 49:07.9 ... interrupted by MP3 player issues.

It was better than that but I had to make up time to get under 2:28 again. Twice!

Mostly cloudy but not raining ... yet.
