Overwhelmed Permanent link to this item in the archive.

So much controversy over helping Americans pick up the pieces after Katrina. I am just so confused about all the finger pointing before the problems have even been resolved. Why is so much energy being wasted instead of being channeled to help solve the very real issues that exist for the people affected by this storm?

A wonderful post from The Heretic's Handbook Permanent link to this item in the archive.

"...what I wanted from life. I wanted a lasting sense of expanded consciousness. In that state, you’re never lonely, never without solace, never without the feeling that you’re loved and cared for. I think it was then that I started to understand the notion (not the thing itself, but the idea) of feeling that sort of connection all the time without having to worry about losing it). You reach out, and it’s there."

I will add this to my list of Life Goals right near the top! Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Cut and Paste in the OPML Editor Permanent link to this item in the archive.

As you can see from my last few posts here, the Editor can do some really interesting stuff when you try to Cut and Paste. I need to do some more testing with this to see what I can and cannot get away with. Work has been crazy busy this past week. I have been learning XSLT as quickly as I can.

Awesome post and so very true, from Chocolate and Vodka Via: A Working Model.

"We are not rational beings. None of us. We like to think that we are, we like to point to logic and reason as our cornerstones, but still, we are not rational. We are emotional, passionate, illogical beings, and the sooner we realise it the better. The assumption that we are rational beings leads to all sorts of pain. It leads us to believe that if only we acted in just such a way, people would respond just as we want them to, and all would be well with the world. It makes us think that when things go wrong, there must be a reason: it must be something we did or something we said that made the person we love turn away from us. It makes us work over again and again past experiences and failure, worrying away at them, trying to figure out what we did wrong, what they did wrong, what went wrong. But really, that's all bollocks. We are not rational beings. We do not behave in a rational manner. Our decisions do not submit to dissection by logic. Half the time, we do not even understand why we do what we do. Certainly we rarely understand why other people do what they do, or how our actions have influenced them and how their actions influence us."

Thanks for the mention Amy! I was thinking some more about the Attention issue with changes.opml.org and I was wondering what it would take to make something like a blogrolling list that allows a NEW symbol that is time configurable? I would only want it to show me OPML weblogs and I do Not want to use Blogrolling because of the time lag for my page loading up. Even my del.icio.us link on the side bar is slowing my page load way down.

It feels like I am missing some OPML Blogs when I sleep Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Has anyone else noticed that if you get up in the middle of the night in the US that you will get to see a bunch of OPML blogs that you have never seen on the changes.opml.org list? I feel like I might be missing out on a bunch of great blogs but it is really hard to tell. I would really love to see something with a longer history than the changes.opml.org page. I cannot even add these blogs to my aggregator because I have to see them at least once to get their RSS page. Hmmmm, What to do? I really like the News Aggregator at Harvard
