Sample Ruby Code for Twittergram Quick Ruby code sample for the TwitterGram Web Service. Thursday, June 28, 2007TwitterGram with XML-RPC for PHP Richie Carey posted example PHP code to demonstrate how to use XML-RPC for PHP to post to Dave Winer’s Twittergram web service. Wednesday, June 27, 2007Nice proof of concept Dave did for his TwitterGram idea of Twitter meets Podcasting. Some API documentation here. And Garrick Van Buren has done a web service AppleScript client for Audio Hijack Pro already. It will be interesting to see how the TwitterGram idea develops. For now, you can create your mini-podcast mp3 (< 200k), then load it to Twitter at Dave's experimental Web UI. You can follow the stream of TwitterGrams at Twitter. Monday, June 25, 2007Once again, the blogfather gives us something to think about. Twitter Meets Podcasting. TwitterGram - is it too much work, or too much fun? Sunday, June 17, 2007The southeast love bugs do not seem to realize it is now past mid June. They normally pay a visit in mid May and mid September, then hang around about 2-3 weeks. Since the 2004/2005 hurricanes their numbers are increasing, and their visits are getting longer. They do not bite or sting, but those that smash against your car while driving, will eat the paint away if not cleaned off in a day or two. They're attracted by car emissions and bright colors (white and yellow, teh love bugs really love). Filling up at the gas pump with a white car is an adventure when they are swarming. Thankfully their numbers are finally starting to thin for this May visit. See you in September! Wednesday, May 30, 2007In comments of old, Tom Flowers says: Sunday, May 27, 2007In addition to XSLT, XPath is utilized to assist in the transformation process. (XSLT tutorial) XPath is to XML as SQL is to a relational database. What good is a data store if there is no way to query it? (tutorial) XML > Data XSLT > Structure CSS > Design Javascript > Behavior As long as the structure does not change, each level can work autonomously. The XML data can be updated without notifying the information architect or designer, the XSLT can change or be replicated for other purposes, and the look and feel can be changed using CSS. This model also goes a long way toward future-proofing, as XSLT can be used to generate almost any document format. The competition to become the next markup language for the Web is heating up. What a great idea. If it came to be, and the media publishers actually kept track of the data, and it slowed or stopped the endless repetition of non-news stories, oh what a future it might be! Saturday, April 21, 2007One more test. The twitter tiny url for each of the four test entries is the same (returns the whole day of posts - http://blogs.opml.org/openAllNight/2007/04/21), and not an entry link (http://blogs.opml.org/openAllNight/2007/04/21#twitterFeatureNotes). Is this expected behavior? Could guess so. Entry URI not available at that point in time? Update >> Dave said: "I send a link with a # anchor but somewhere along the line, someone, either Twitter or Tinyurl, strips them out" OPML Editor Blog to Twitter Space New toy, thanks uncle skippy! A test from OpenAllNight OPML Blog to Twitter space. It worked! Mashups and codecasting sweetness! Donovan thoughtStreamed: "tried out dave's flickRivr tool but it's tossing errors at me. hmph." [Donovan's thoughtStream]. There was a recent code update to that tool, Donovan. May help with the errors. Open FlickrRivr.root from the OPML Editor Window menu, then select Tools >> Update Front Tool, to get the latest code for it. Codecasting is so fine! WorldCat.org, is provided by OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. If you search for OPML at WorldCat.org, the second item returned is "Getting Acquainted with OPML" by Amy Bellinger. Does Amyloo know this? WorldCat Beta, "Over 1 billion items in more than 10,000 libraries worldwide". WorldCat.org lets you search the collections of libraries in your community and thousands more around the world. WorldCat grows every day thanks to the efforts of librarians and other information professionals. I see a "Get Email Updates" link at WorldCat, but do not see an RSS feed? Thursday, April 19, 2007No time for the 411 highway on the road of life. Sunday, April 08, 2007Noticing more and more news sites are limiting the life of article links. Some return a 404 or a notice page after 30 days. Other news links have a bit shorter or a bit longer life. Guessing they may be receiving less and less link-love in the future. Tuesday, April 03, 2007OPML Editor: Testing the latest Windows Release
Looks good so far on my test laptop. Win98 (eek!), Firefox V2.0.0.3. Sorry, I do not have IE7 to test with. I have IE6, but only use it when a client makes me. ;) Really not sorry that IE7 is MIA. Preferences: What is the easiest and/or most direct way to save Community and NewsRiver preferences before installing a new OPML.zip? I always end up re-doing my preferences. Is there an easier way? NewsRiver: I always forget to re-import my NewsRiver Subscriptions opml file after installing a new release zip. OPML Editor: Occasionally crashes on open or exit for me, but this was happening previously. It seems more related to lack of resources on my PC ( I am seriously working on getting another but I love the overall reliability of this one, sooo, what's the rush). The occasional Oh! Editor crashes are not new to this release. I need a personal editor for the Oh! Editor entries. I have too many "typically-graphical" typos. Coffee, coffee. Comment on the Librarian List: "OPML is just another flavor of XML. You can open it in a text editor and mess around with it, if you're reasonably careful." What just happened? When did it happen? Why didn't it happen? Need more info? Select the OPML Editor Community Menu, "Open Log Outline" to view the Event Log. |
