Why do all these sites have the same kinda look? Is it css finally taking hold or is there some new web page authouring app I'm not aware of?

File this under the 'thinkingOutLoudStream'.

OK, got the updates. At the same time I decided I needed to move the OPML app. My feeling at this point is that it's a bad idea to put the app in the standard Applications folder. It really needs to go into the Applications folder in your Home folder. The reason for this is that the OPML Editor writes data specific to this User in your Applications:OPML directory. This isn't exactly kosher but moving to your user's Apps folder solves the problem.

I think this should be specified in the install instructions.

If you want to test other installations/accounts/communities you can really bugger things up. On the other hand as I write this I realize that it means you need to have not only multiple copies of the applications but of all your tools and that you need to upate these individually.

Sigh. It's never tidy with Dave's stuff. But it sure does appeal to the geek in me!

Trying to update to the latest version but getting an error message. Perhaps something funky at the server end temporarily. 'Connection timed out...'

This should be added to the base instructions so that one doesn't have to do digging through the comments to find it.

 1. Quit the app.

 2. Delete the Appearance/icons sub-folder of the app folder.

 3. Restart.

Hola! Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Long time no post. Been spending time with my wife who's back home after a few weeks away.

Did manage to play with the OS X Community Server a bit last night. Almost got it working. More head scratching to do. I am rather keen to have it running on one of our machines in hopes that I can use it simply to have html versions of all my opml files and to get access to the glossary.

Before switching communities I zipped the OPML directories in my Applications and Documents folder of my original install. When I was finished testing I just zipped the test version, unzipped my original, and I was back in business.

That's the theory. When I hit Save on this post I guess I'l know for sure!

phew. That was close. The first time I hit "View" I got one of those big scarey server messages. I took a breath, hoped it was a matter of the data being half built, then hit View again. Sure enough, all is well.
