Scoble hates John Comokaz. This is just the tip of the iceburg. Having your content hijacked so others can profit from it is a growing phenomenah. There's lots of software that is designed to do it. It can be used responsibly, but usually isn't. Technology lets ads get personal. Advertising tailored to individuals is either a very good thing...or a very bad one. Web Guitar Wizard Revealed at Last. Who is funtwo and why do so many seek him? Bernie Goldbac reveals that "...3G phones sold in Europe deliver over-the-air playback of MP3 files... I pay around $60 a month for podcasts that get me to and from work." Via Scripting News. One thing that I have noticed about the OPML editor/Newsriver combo is that it changes the way I blog. My blog ends up looking a lot more like Dave's blog, and I think it's more than the aesthetics. It's got to do with how I read the web through the newsriver -- which has an affect on what I write about and how I do it. I find my thinking less centralized, and more diffused over a number of interesting (to me) little threads. Again - "small pieces, loosely joined". I'm willing to at least entertain the idea that this is one of the reasons why Dave has been so successful at spreading his ideas. I'll keep blogging this way for a while if only to see where it leads me. For proof of the fact that the very method of blogging changes my blogging content and behavior -- read the last post and compare it to the one from yesterday which is in complete opposition. So my thinking changed, and you get to see it "almost live". And I'm okay with it. I've been thinking about Bernie's phone that receives podcasts. I remember telling my friends in the radio business that podcasts were going to impact our little industry and shake it to the core. I was generally dismissed. You can see some of the posts at my radio blog, http://radioxfactor.com about podcasting and satellite radio for an inkling of how long I've been beating that drum. I told my fellow radioheads that when people could receive podcasts on their cell phones, radio should consider itself in the endgame. Now guess what? That's where they are and they don't even know it. I love that industry, and I pray that a few of us will be able to raise some kind of phoenix from those ashes. And I wish a few of the leaders in that industry would remove their cranium from their rectum and recognize what's happening. There's a convergence moment coming in all this random blogging I'm doing. I don't quite have it yet. But my current meme cloud contains ideas on: marketing and copywriting (what I do now to make money), radio and broadcasting vs. user-generated content (I've been in the radio business since I was 14 -- a long time), blogging and the end of the monoculture, Seth Godin's new book, and the web-as-outline. I don't even know what it all means or how it all fits together. Yet. But I think I may have more to say on this in the next day or two. Look ma, Dave pointed to me in today's Scripting News! |
