Great Review on OPML by Amy Gahran Permanent link to this item in the archive.

This is her wish list and it is a good one:

MY OPML WISH LIST: Just off the top of my head, here are some things I’d really love to see…

Easy OPML rendering to a word processing document. (I use AppleWorks, NeoOfficeJ, and sometimes Open Office, hint hint to developers)

News organizations offering a rendered OPML article index, by topic

More e-books, reports, and white papers published as rendered OPML documents

 OPML export to a wiki

More blogging tools with built-in OPML renderers. (I used WordPress and Typepad, hint hint to developers)

An easy to use, standalone, platform-neutral OPML renderer.

Amy has some great ideas about how to use OPML and also a very clear explanation of what OPML is, and how to use it.

Thanks Amy!!!

Scoble Nails the Competition, Why Developers are Moving to the LAMP Platform Permanent link to this item in the archive.

This post by Scoble says it all. Why Microsoft is loosing the developers, and why startups are using FREE Open Source Software. The revolution started two years ago, when ISP's started offering cheap, cheap development environments on LINUX servers. Then Ruby on Rails came along and the development environment was complete. I can develop in RoR and PHP on my own laptop, and deploy to a cheap server. If I wanted to do the same in VS.NET I would have to shell out a lot of dough. Pure economics will overcome Microsoft, where the Justice Department failed. Microsoft needs to make a lot of changes if it wants to survive in the long run.

This looks like a link blogging day... Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Sometimes I like to use my blog as a reference to link to other interesting bits of information that I find useful. Today is one of those days. I love to gather and somehow categorize information that I find useful on the web that end up being a resource for my own daily, weekly, monthly use. I often will browse and search my own blog as I have links to information and articles that I like, and find useful. Sort of an expanded favorites folder with additional information available to me. Often I find interesting information that I cannot review at the moment, but later, I would like to return to. This is how I use my blog. If you visit my other blog, this is primarily how I used it. For me, for my own use, like a personal library. This is not for others, but I have found that my links are useful for others, and so I am happy to share in that way. This is one of the cools uses for OPML, which I haven't take full advantage of... yet.

Best of MSDN Webcasts from MaryAm Scoble Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I just had to link to the best of MSDN Webcasts from Scoble's wife's blog. Good call MaryAm, maybe you should get some $$$ from Microsoft (not from your husband!) for the promo!!!

Lots of videos and great information for all the .NET programmers out there looking for new information on VS2005 and SQL2005, not to mention XML stuff.
