More OPML Musings - Data Directories and Stale Links? What if OPML became the defacto standard for managing web-based data directories and links? Interesting thought. I think that is where we are headed. Blogs are 'linked' to each other. As such their permalinks become quite valuable. I wonder what will happen when websites and URL's change and become stale and the permalinks are lost? I have already witnessed this with older websites that disappeared off the web and were no longer available. With OPML, I think that there are ways that we can keep the information fresh and current. I wonder if we will need a program that will traverse the directories and remove or refresh links as needed. Hmmmm.. I am hoping to have enough time next week to play with the OPML Community Server. I will load one up and invite all comers. Heh... Doing some Sharepoint Backup tuning today. Making sure the portal and the websites can be recovered. :-) Also, looking at a "Recycle Bin" for Sharepoint. This will be very useful for support staff and users who are too quick with the delete key. Hmmm, more strangeness with the blog. Now it doesn't seem to want to post today. Okay, there we go... |
