
I'm just listening to Archbishop Desmond Tutu on Today from Friday, and he's absolutely correct. There is no ethical difference between Guantanamo Bay and apartheid in South Africa. It is interesting that the United States wants to spread "democracy". If people don't want freedom, democracy isn't going to bring them freedom. If three people want to eat you, you can never outvote them. But that's not justification for it. ![]()
A lifelong friend and companion, Kizzy had to be put to sleep today.
I'd been expecting it for a while, as her health has been deteriorating for a fair time. Even when you're prepared, it still feels like being punched in the stomach when it happens.
She was a rescue dog. If you ever feel like getting a dog, or any pet, please consider getting a rescued one. They've been through some tough times - abuse and neglect and the suchlike - and it's really great to see them rehomed to someone who can care for them.
Here's to a 2006 filled with life. We could all do with a bit.
