Airports 

Tom Coates is pointing to the new passenger advice. You are now not allowed to take basically anything on flights. I'm glad that the planes didn't get blown up, but the price we've got to pay is anyone flying trans-atlantic won't be able to take anything on the plane. I seriously hope this doesn't continue. I'm not a good flyer at all, and I need sweets, podcasts and some reading material in order to remain sane. I also prefer to take valuables in hand luggage. I'm debating whether or not to travel.

I think that reasonable security measures need to be taken, but the complete ban on hand luggage is unreasonable. The complete ban on liquids is silly - when I last travelled, I needed a lot of water in order to prevent headaches.

Samizdata are very sceptical of the government's response (which is, of course, what they are there for).
