My new blog is here

Here's what's really cool today - I found this PHP code which allows you to use hCal in hKit, the PHP 5 microformat parser. I've been debugging it with Drew McLellan in IRC, and it all sort of works. Expect some microformat stuff from me in the next few days. I'm hoping to write a script that will make microformats (at least hCard and hCal, hopefully also hReview) a little bit more accessible for OPML geeks.  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Eek! I've been Flickred. I'm the one with the army green shirt behind a Mac. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Christian Heilmann also has a writeup of the WSG microformats event. I might go along to Pub Standards, despite the frankly bewildering arguments that some of the semantic/standards folks get up to. I mean, it's listed in my London Geeks upcoming group (which I'm frankly oblivious to). Permanent link to this item in the archive.

On Thursday I went to the WSG event on microformats. I haven't written it up because it was more aimed towards designers than developers - but Caroline Mockett, who I met at the event, has a decent writeup - and there's a podcast available. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Good to see that Jack Straw is not wasting time on pointless crap. Stop pissing around with our Internet and get back to telling niqab-wearing Muslims how silly they look. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Atheist ettiquette question: how do you do grace? Another good reason to eat out. This question has arisen time and time again. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Yesterday, I finally bought myself a replacement laptop bag. My old one was falling apart at the seams and was so obvious in it's "mug me - I've got a laptop inside" design. I wasn't looking forward to buying a new bag - usually that's an expensive and tedious hobby. Instead, I've got a back pack that is suitable for carrying all my junk - laptop, all the stuff that goes with it (mobile, spare battery, chargers, cables and so on). It's also nice and spacious for other things I need - books, lunchbox and so on. I think I might go for a geek picnic today - laptop and lunchbox. Permanent link to this item in the archive.
