What's missing in this discussion No one on the podium is talking about "time-based media" - videos, audio, other kinds of things that move. This is primarily about digitizing The Book - the dead trees book - and not about all of the bundles of details and issues surrounding the Things That Move. I did get a chance to talk with Rick Prelinger of the Live blogging from the mass digitization conference Jenica - http://jenica26.squarespace.com/ - Potsdam, NY very detailed liveblogging, well worth reading, better than my logs. Bill Tozier - http://williamtozier.com/slurry/ - Ann Arbor Bill and Barbara issued the Commemorative Library Digitization Symposium edition of Anthony Hope's The Indiscretion of the Duchess, which he scanned in, OCR'd, proofread, laid out, and typeset. Why? "Because I can". |
