New Header Graphic

Lisa Noticed The Comments Permanent link to this item in the archive.

This is one girl that really plans ahead, though. I went to her "real" blog and realized that she has planned to have a baby in March of 2007 (573 days).

No Way To Contact Permanent link to this item in the archive.

How would I get in touch with OPML Imbroglio to let him know that HaloScan "does" work? Until he posts his email or figures out some other way, I don't think I can. Maybe he'll be watching the changes and see this post.

UPDATED: Russell Gum is also asking questions to himself.

"Hey kid... take a hit of this blogging stuff." Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I started feeling this way before this comment was even posted. I'm afraid that I'm getting addicted to this, and I'd go through some bigger withdrawls if I lost this than I have after recently quitting smoking.

If you're just reading this on the blog, your missing most of it!

I think I'm having more useful conversation in the Instant Outliner. You haven't clicked on that coffee cup yet? WHY NOT? Go ahead kid...take a sip of that coffee, too!

Much Easier Permanent link to this item in the archive.

And just think, I was trying to create the motherlode (as kosso calls it) by hand. Jeesh...

If you want some more fun, try the iPodder OMPL.

The feeds work great in the Instant Outliner.

Popping those files in your daily outline (the blog) works, but try to limit yourself, or you'll be sorry. The nodes have to be expanded, in order to show up on the web page, and the more that you have, the longer it takes to save and create the RSS feed. Not to mention the amount of time it takes to load those huge pages.

Changed the header graphic. I just received this one in an email. Just like it said, the email looked like a phishing attempt.

At least they were nice enough to let me know. It's highly possible that many people have seen this, before, but I thought it would fit up there, just fine.

Thanks for noticing, McD. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

There are so many of us that are used to having comments and trackbacks, that to be without them just doesn't feel right.

Right now, it's a pain in the ass to add the code and the unique identifier to each post, so it would be nice to have them "built-in".

It's not really "that" hard, but it is more work than is needed.

EVERYBODY: Use the Wiki. Dave "does" look, but only if there's changes happening.

I just don't think that "I" should have to be the one to add everything. (I guess Uncle Dave is rubbing off.)

Today Is Going To Get Messy Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I'm experimenting with importing XML, RSS, and OPML files into the text of this blog, so things will get a little "confusing". You'll also notice that the sidebar that is normally on the right, has moved to the bottom of this page, due to the testing.

I've been able to get this to work in both the Instant Outline and this page (see "Finding the answer", below). Subscribe to my Instant Outline, because it's easier to do this there.

I want to see how far I can take this, though, and find out exactly "what" the limitations and hang-ups are. This will all be done at the bottom of this page. If anything "important" comes up, I'll post it at the top.

...which is another good reason to "love" this program!

Another Day Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I sleep such strange hours, because of my job that on my "days off", it's hard to know "when" to sleep.

It's 1:00am and I just woke up 30 minutes ago.

I couldn't wait to get back in and start playing with the Instant Outliner again.

Colaborative Working With Instant Outliner Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I'm seeing quite a bit of this starting to happen, now.

It's nice when people publish a "who I subscribe to" branch.

This is done by going to "Community" > "Instant Outliner" > "Export Subscriptions", and saving the mySubscriptions.opml file in your "instantOutliner" directory.

Then just create an entry in your IO called "My Buddies" (or whatever you want to describe it as), right-click > "Add Link", and enter the link to your "mySubscriptions.opml" file. (example: http://hosting.opml.org/webfeed/instantOutliner/mySubscriptions.opml)

I've been testing some other opml files from various directories. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

From working on PodcastHost, I know that almost every RSS 2.0 feed is different, not matter how much we'd like to think that it's a standard.

The tags and attributes that people put it (or leave out) varies as much as the places where Dave Winer lays his head each night.

The variation can really be seen when looking at some of the feeds in the directories that I've added.

Some open in the buddies list

Some open their web page in a browser window

 Some open the XML code

Some open to a feedburner page

The variation that I usually see at PodcastHost is usually caused by the different things that people put in their tags. A lot of times, this tag is either blank, or completely left out.

I'm not "exactly" sure, yet, of what is causing the variation, here.
